Welcome to Olive Branch Rheumatology, an innovative rheumatology specialty practice that harkens back to old-school, relationship-based medicine between only the patient and the doctor. Olive Branch Rheumatology was started by Dr. Amy Zhang who was tired of practicing big box, assembly-line medicine at a large hospital system. While working there, she saw how hospital systems often pressure their doctors to do what is in the best interest for the hospital, not necessarily what is in the best interest of the patient. She witnessed how large healthcare systems and insurance companies often used one-size-fit-all treatment approaches instead of prioritizing the individual needs of each patient to work towards the patient’s personal health goals.

 

With this is in mind, she set out to create a medical practice that prioritizes mutual collaboration and understanding between the patient and the doctor. Olive Branch Rheumatology was founded on the core values of respect and dignity for every human life, simplicity, and price transparency. Dr. Zhang built the practice based on her own experiences as a patient navigating the difficulties and challenges of the medical industry complex. At Olive Branch Rheumatology, our goal is to take the complexity out of the delivery of rheumatology care to our patients, so that our patients can focus on healing and optimizing their health. We aim to help remove barriers between our patients and high-quality rheumatology care. By operating outside of the conventional insurance-based system, our practice can employ all healing modalities that can aid patients in their healing journey.

 

At Olive Branch Rheumatology, office visits are typically a minimum of 30 minutes. Rheumatology is a complex medical specialty which requires a lot of time for the rheumatologist to complete the work accurately. Having adequate time for a complete medical history, physical exam, medication reconciliation, and collaborative discussion about treatment options is vital for patients to obtain meaningful health outcomes.
